Silly question. I am toying with the idea of adding a middle pickup to some guitars that have a set of prails on them. Currently I have them with rails facing in to get the more "quacky" strat type sound in middle position.
I guess I could put a typical strat pick up in the middle but was hoping for something different. P90, Mini Hum or an ASAT type pickup.
These guitars already house JTV Variax guts so getting a strat type sound is easy on the variax side. I combine the variax and mags 98% of the time so would like to have the most variations as possible on the mag side, hence the prails.
I have a 3 mini hum epi firebird that gets some cool sounds. I aso have a 3 p90 epi riviera that I really dig. Both can get "strat like" sounds in pos 2 and 4, they just sound a bit fatter which is cool.
Any ideas on how a mini hum, p90 or asat would sound combined with the prails? I would mostly only use the middle pickup with rails or p90 settings on prails.
