  • SSL-1 volume pot resistance

i heard all single coils should use 250k pots. is that right for the SSL-1 single coils?

In general you use 250K pots with lower resistance pickups because they bleed more treble to ground and smooth out the sound. I use 250K pots for any single coil below 9K resistance.

For me it depends on the guitar and pickups. I have an HSS strat with a 500k volume and a 250k tone, a guitar with a 59 and Distortion with their own volumes at 1meg and 500k respectively with a 500k tone, and another 2 humbucker with all 500ks.

Me too. With one exception: I can go either way with the JB.

I used 500k on the ssl1 cause i was too lazy to get 250k and whhile they chimed and jangled, the tone was simply too brittle. 250k smoothed it considerably.
