Hey! Im normally a Humbucker guy. I have a couple of guitars where I run singles in the neck and middle with a bucker in the bridge and usually balance them to the humber output. Im trying to dial in my strat which has Bill Lawrence Keystones in it. I think the pups maybe be too low, but I just wanted to check to see if there is a good starting point rule of thumb? thanks!

Re: Pickup height for single coils?
I always START with them about 1/8" from the strings then lower them until they get a great clean tone but still retain fullness. Then I work at balancing with the other pups.Originally Posted by IanBallard

Re: Pickup height for single coils?
I find very useful this FAQ in Dimarzio. I found it a better starting point than what I tried according to guitar makers.

thanks!! Ill check into these! Jeremy, yeah I always do bridge first.Believe me when I say that some of the most amazing music in history was made on equipment that's not as good as what you own right now.
