  • 2-way ON-ON SPDT [or DPDT? I really don't know] as pickup selector

Hi all, thanks in advance for any help ad please forgive me if this question have been posted before. I was wondering if it was possible to change the 3 way toggle switch that I currently use, for a 2 way ON-ON [as I never use the middle position with both pickups] switch and how would I wire such a thing. I will also install a killswitch instead of a volume pot so to have only two switches on my guitar, and nothing else.
Thank you very much for your help.

I use Livewires 18Volt on a Jackson Rhoads

Yup, it's possible. For that pickups switch, you would be ok even with a SPDT ON/ON mini toggle switch.
For that kill switch, better a DPDT ON/ON but, do you want a permanent ON/OFF switch or do you want a momentary OFF switch?.
I guess that kill switch is to disconnect the batteries...

      Thanks for the reply hermetico.
I honestly don't know about permanent or momentary OFF switch, I would have followed the schematics on this site for the killswitch, what really puzzles me is the wiring of the two switches that I have no idea how to accomplish.
      Thank you very much.

Well, not sure which pickups do you have. But, the hot is being represented here with the light blue wire and, the ground with that light grey wire.
Not sure also which kind of jack do you have, if stereo, solder the batteries negative (black wire) to the ring.
Remember to solder also any other kind of ground (bridge, shielding, etc...) to the backside of the DPDT (common grounding spot). Or, if you have a shielding claw, throw all grounds there.
I am also suposing you have a couple of 9V batteries in series...

For the Kill switch, you need a DPDT on/on, this will disconnect also the batteries, so they will not worn.
For the pickups selector, you need a DPDT on/on switch (if you just wanted Neck or Bridge) but, this schema will still work if you choose a SPDT on/on/on switch (and then, you will have also Neck + Bridge in the middle position).
