  • Single humbucker, LP toggle, series/split/parallel?

Hello. Sorry if this ends up a double-post, but I think the forum ate my first attempt.

The two guitars I'm building right now are each going to have a single humbucker at the bridge, but I'd like to wire them with a 3-way switch so they'd be series / split / parallel, like in the Esquire wiring diagram here: http://www.seymourduncan.com/support...tic=esquire_hb

The twist is that I'd like to use a Gibson-style 3-way toggle instead of a Fender blade switch. I've seen the coil-splitting diagram with a mini-toggle, and the 3-way / toggle / mini-toggle translation diagram, which suggests it can be done. But both the mini-toggle and the blade switch have more lugs than the Gibson / Switchcraft switch.

Can anyone tell me if this is possible, and if so how to do it?

    Thanks!

To get series, split, and parallel with a Gibson switch you will need two push/pulls...one for series/parallel and one for humbucker/split. So, if you have a volume pot and a tone pot you can do it. If you only have a vol pot, you will need to install another switch.

Actually, you can do series/split with the Gibby switch, but you'd need a push-pull or toggle to do parallel.

Do you mean "parallel/split" with the Gibby 3 way?

It might be do-able with that new 'Freeway' toggle switch from StewMac.

Lumbering dinosaur (what's a master volume control?)

Well, you could do parallel/split or series/split. You just can't do series/parallel.

This baby should be able to do it

This one is able to do it but it's a bit overkill with the extra 2 poles:

Artie, you're brilliant. For the life of me, I couldn't come up with that. Nice.

That DPDT on-on-on three way toggle from Stewmac is a great idea. I'll have to get me a couple of those for future projects.

You could always use a relay inside the guitar...

If you're going to go with internal power, might as well use the venerable old 4066:

Thanks, gang, I didn't think it would work, but had to ask. I've decided to go ahead with the blade switch and make a plate for it.
