  • Magnet advice (Seth and PafPro)

I've played around with A5s, A2s and Ceramics- but now I want to go further.

My guitar: H/H Alder body Strat w/solid maple bolt-on neck
neck p/u- Seth Hybrid (Seth neck slug coil with Seth bridge screw coil)
    bridge p/u- Dimarzio PafPro

I want to make my Seth slightly less polite and slightly tame the highs in my PafPro.

Here are my thoughts (although I'm only guessing)
put a rough cast A2, A3 or A4 in the Seth
and put any of the same in my PafPro.

    any suggestions/advice?

Throw an A8 into the PAF Pro. Makes it a little more muscular ups the output a little. Works nicely in the bridge or neck with that setup.

Thanks Lone Phantom, you're the lone reply so far!

However, I'm not sure an A8 will get me there- I was hoping to tame the highs a bit. Can I assume an A8 would increase the highs?

The A8 PAF Pro sounded a bit fuller to me, so it might have been taming the highs a little, or more likely boosting the other frequencies which made the highs less apparent.

I'd try an UOA5 in bith PU's. It'll keep the rich vintage feel of the Seth, but add a sharper high end. And it'll warm up the DMz, which has a (very bright) polished A5.

I recently put an A8 into my Ant bridge and all I can say is WOW. It still has presence, clarity and a vintage feel but with more power, punch and thicker highs for singing leads. Paired with a PGn it makes for a truly awesome combo.

              I think I
ll try this- I know a lot of people on this site sing the praises of UOA5s and I've always wanted to try them.
