  • 3 pickup wiring mod

    Hi All,
Here's one for the wiring guru. Using a 3 pickup configuration ( I'm currently using an HSH setup) is it possible to get all these pickup combinations? 1)bridge, 2) middle, 3) neck, 4) bridge+ middle, 5) neck + middle, 6) bridge + neck and 7) bridge+middle+neck. Obviously I can get 1 through 5 with a 5 way switch, but are 6 and 7 possible and if so would I need a 7 position swich. And last but not least would those 2 extra pickup combinations sound good?
    Thanks

It can be done, but there's a much easier way to do it that lets you still use a 5 way switch. Just wire up a push/pull pot to turn either the bridge or neck pickup on whenever it is pulled up. This can be used to get those last two combinations, neck+bridge and all three at once.

      What Ryan said . . .

Or convert one of the tone pots to a blend control, ala Lindy Fralin.

i would say to use a 3 way switch wired with the neck and bridge and use a push/pull to activate the middle whenever needed. just my 2 cents.
