I've used the older version of the SVR in several guitars over the years, and liked them quite a lot. My question is aimed at the newer version with the 4-conductor wiring. Wiring the coils in parallel gives the original SVR tone, and obviously wiring the pickup in series will give a somewhat hotter, thicker sound. I wanted to get an idea of what to expect from the series wiring. Does it sound like any other Duncan pickups? I know that's a loaded question, but I've tried most of the other Strat-sized Duncans, so I'll at least have an idea. Thanks in advance!

Re: Vintage Rails Question
Wired in series will give you a tone that's closer to Cool Rails, but the split rail pole piece design will always keep it more Strat-like because the magnetic aperture on the string is closer to that of a true single coil.Evan Skopp, Inside Track International
