  • A2 Pro sounds too dark. Ideas?

    Hey guys,

I like the A2Pro/Screamin' Demon combo in my Ibanez SZ, but I find the A2Pro just a bit too dark, they're too contrasting.
I've raised the polepieces/dropped the pickup and it's better but not good enough. 500k pots in it.
I want a bit more clarity and articulation while keeping as much mids and dynamics as possible.

I've got a Unoriented A5 magnet around that I could drop in.
Think it should work? I'm all for experimenting but I haven't modified this pup yet so I'd like some positive feedback before hacking it.
Can't recall anyone changing magnets in a A2 Pro here before.

Ibanez RG270 / Screamin' Demon bridge.

Too dark? I need your advice because my A2P neck is too bright!

Sounds like you might want the Slash set. You could try the UOA5 and also maybe the UO-Ceramic.

Go with the UO A5, you'll land between a regular jazz and an A2P.

+1. It'll give you more high end, and still keep the texture and dynamics.

Why WOULDN'T you try the A5 first?

Better question is why'd you go A2P in the first place, but we are past that now. A2P to Dermon is a hella-range guitar!

Diego has been A2Pro fan, afaik. Do the mod first with your UOA5 like others have said.
