I have no idea of the year but he uses fender vintage noiseless single coil strat pickups.
One of our band members has an EC signature strat and the guitar and sound are very versatile. We lean more towards classic rock but do play lots of R&B classics too.....the guitar is great.

I do believe that the neck and the middle were stock from 56/57 and that that bridge was a 1970. It's in the Clapton auction book.

There's an interesting video on YouTube of Seymour Duncan- he was asked to check Blackie out in the late 70s since it lost its tone. Turns out his volume pot went and his tech replaced it with a modern 250k pot, which had tighter tolerances- which was too bright, as the original pot, with looser tolerances, may have been around 230k. He switched one of the original tone pots with the volume, and the tone was back

Interesting that anyone could ever hear the difference between a 250k and 230k pot.
