  • Old hot stacks

Hi all,new to the forum,so sorry if this winds up in the wrong spot!

I recently acquired some vintage hot stacks with maroon covers,
I wired them up using a wiring diagram from the seymour site,it was for three old stacks,1 vol,2 tone,5 way,
I used alpha 500k pots and an orange drop cap,

They sound killer, but I'm not sure I'm used to the way the volume and tone pots function as they seem different from a standard 3 single coil 1 vol 2 tone 5 way setup!

My question is does anyone know how it's Suppposed to function, maybe I wired it wrong,it almost seems as if the volume won't function without the tone all the way up??????

yep. sounds like you either wired it wrong or one of the pots is faulty.

Double checked the wiring, and all my solder joints are really good and all looks correct, also used brand new alpha pots, but I know that doesn't mean one can't be faulty,I'm going to rewire with cts pots I think, thanks for the reply
