Magnet question - How can I determine magnet type?

Hi everyone,

I bought a Tone Zone from a member of the Duncan forum. The seller told me he had put an A8 magnet into the pickup. Normally, I don't like the TZ, but I decided to try it because of the different magnet. He also sent the stock magnet with the pickup. From everything I've read, an A8 magnet has super strong string pull. Well, this pickup has VERY LITTLE string pull. Anyone here know how I can have a magnet tested to determine which type it is? I LOVE the way this TZ sounds with the different magnet installed. I want to determine the magnet type so that I can buy a couple more of them. Thanks much!

I have a few a8 mags (a9 even) and unless they are close to the strings, the pull isn't bad.

Most magnets are labeled. Pull off the baseplate and it should be written on the magnet somewhere. You may have to pull the magnet out to look on the other side. Just pay attention to how it comes out for proper orientation.
