  • Will Seymour Duncan ever make a QuadRails pickup..?

I've used the Kramer QuadRails (one of the only non-SD I will use) and think it's got a really great sound, tone and feel.

Has anybody else used/got one and do you think that Seymour could make it better..?

I know that, they've done that twice now More to follow on that.

But, I meant as a regular pickup.

Also, are there any pickup ideas we all might put our heads together on..?

The last time people did that, we got the SH-14 - sounds awesome in a 7 string RE: Mr. Merrow's video :P

Dual rail mini-humbeuckers are usually a compromise in terms of clarity and tone. Doubling the number of blades does nothing to resolve that problem.

They've sounded alright to me - maybe I'm not sensitive to such things.

I bet they'd make a great neck pickup if you wired each coil in parallel, and then wired both coils together in parallel.

When I finish the woodworking on the Warlock, I'll do a recording. Nothing fancy, just to get a sound from it. I don't tend to use tone controls except in the stock guitars and even then not very often.

With single hum guitars, single or even no controls nowadays.

I did quite a few straight to the jack. With dual humbucker guitars I'd use a stereo jack, and then use a stereo splitter cable to go to two different amp/setups. Neck pickup was always wired in parallel to make it sound more like a bridge pickup.

I did a red strat that was direct out.

I think that's the best guitar I've done to date - it's kit built, mahogany body and maple neck tuned to drop A with a brass nut.

A red Invader for the bridge on a mono jack. It's loud and brutal but, totally simple.

                    A got-to guitar that's very photogenic.
