  • Kelly Tele Pick Up I.D.

    Hi All-

I recently purchased a used Kelly Telecaster. No paperwork or serial number. It's really awesome and I've since ordered a new Tele from Rick.

The good folks at the Telecaster Forum tell me I have Duncan pickups in the used Kelly. The bridge pickup has flat pole pieces. Neither pickup has been relic-ed.

Could anyone here please I.D. these pickups so I know what I've got?

    Thanks!

Your bridge pup is a 1/4 pound neck (rhythm) pup.

I have no idea what your neck pup is. Maybe someone will chime in that knows more than I.

Can you get us better pics of the bridge pickup all around?
        Nope...

That sticker and the signature suggest either an Antiquity or a Custom Shop one.

Re: Kelly Tele Pick Up I.D.

Unfortunately I don't have a better picture of the bottom of the pick up.
The signature was pretty illegible - just like mine!

The top is pretty unremarkable - flat pole pieces and no relic-ing. Next time I change strings, maybe I'll take a few more.

By Custom Shop, do you mean Fender CS or Duncan? I guess I didn't realize Duncan had one - cool!

            Thanks everyone for helping out.

Re: Kelly Tele Pick Up I.D.

I've emailed the pictures to their generic customer support address.

                I'll report back.

I've since ordered another Tele from Rick, so it will be good to now what these are.

Great customer service. I've gotten a phone call and an email from Duncan - Thanks!

The neck pick up is a quarter-pound STR-3. It is GREAT. Warm, clear, glassy, punchy and just enough hair and bite if needed.
The bridge pick up is an Antiquity and yes - all Antiquities are signed as someone suggested. It is very good but maybe a hair thin for my taste - need to play it more.

Both pick ups together = MAGIC. Sweet and chirpy

Good to know what I've got.

Thanks to everyone who chimed in.
