  • Strat Question - Does a Trembucker fit the stock HSS pickguard?

On the newer American strats that come HSS, does a Trembucker fit the cutout for the bridge pickup without modification? Or is the Trembucker too wide?

Also, assuming the trembucker fits, if you replace the stock Diamondback, do the three mounting screw holes in the pickguard line up with the threaded holes on a Trembucker baseplate so you can use three-screw mounting without needing to drill different holes?

    Thanks.

It's a very tight fit. They tend to rub the tape back on the pickup. Doesn't bother me though. I can't answer about the screw holes, as I always drill a center hole to be able to use just two screws.

Thanks. I guess a lot of guys use the standard spaced pickups to avoid scraping the tape along the end of the bobbins.

Still would be curious about the screw holes if anyone knows..

      cheers.

i installed both a regular jb a trembucker jb into two fender strats not long back (one was for a student and i liked the jb sound so much i put the trembucker in my axe). Both axes used fender pickguards. His is a 2011 USA standard and mine is a 1991 plus deluxe. Its a tight fit but i think the trembucker is much better. When i look at the regular one, the strings don't line up and it just looks like the pickguard hole is too big. There were no problems at all with the body routing.

I don't recall seeing a trembucker with all 3 screws used, generally only 1 per side is used. I always wondered why the trembucker baseplates were made that way to begin with??

Gibson175, I really like your Strat a lot. Those knobs are very unique looking, and the pup color choice were a nice touch and it really brings it all together.
