Just picked up a great EVH Wolfgang Special Hardtail and love it-- the only thing I'm not super crazy about is the pickups. They're really midrangey and thick and fairly high output. Anyone here wire them parallel mode instead of series? I'm thinking they're high output enough that they'd still sound plenty powerful in parallel.
I'd love to hear if anyone else has done this.
If not, I'm thinking of swapping the pickups out (and storing the originals, of course). I have a pre-36th anniv. Dimarzio PAF for the bridge and am looking at the Humbucker from Hell for the neck. Both would have to have their baseplates modified (rounding the square corners off, since the Wolfgang's pickup routs are rounded to match the bobbins of the pickups).
