  • Help: I want the noise when I touch the pickup

    Hi guys.
I'm looking for the noise that happened when we touch the pickup. Someone said that it is some kind of phase reversal. My idea is to put a switch on that, so everytime I switch it on, I can have that noise when i touch the pick up. I could use it for some Tom Morello stuff.

    Can somebody help me?

    Thanks in advance

there shouldn't be any noise when you touch the pickup aside from the sound of your fingers or pick rubbing against the poles

Well, my friend once mistakenly did that, and he can have that noise. It sounds like if you unplug the jack from the guitar and touch the jack.

Normie, that is a sound most, if not all us try to avoid! You could wire a "touch pad" to the hot of the guitars circuit, but I don't know if that would be advisable do to possible SAFETY ISSUES !

Good sport!!! (took the hints like a man!)

Specially in a "on stage" environment, it can be dangerous.
Someone spills a drink on your gear (or if you play a rowdy crowd, people throw beer etc.).
Or if you play in open air, it could start raining etc.

And some people have the bad habit of placing beverages on top of their amps (which is bad, with or without decent grounding b.t.w.).

                Just safety precautions.

The only safe way to do it is by using a sampler. Then again, that's the kind of gimmick that gets old very fast.

It's not the exact sound, but it's safer: try running a heavy distortion pedal into a compressor with some exaggerated settings. Every note fades into noise.
