  • Epi content: SG with tone, volume, spins?

Hey all, I'm going to be receiving an Epiphone SG400 in a bit. It's a limited edition SG400 that apparently isn't pro and doesn't have the push-pull coil splitting, but the sender seems to think it's got 4 wire pickups. I guess this is possible, due to it being one of the Pelham Blue SGs before the latest pro series came out.

If it does, I'm looking forward to converting the wiring to master volume, master tone and spin n' splits for each pickup. I haven't seen this particular wiring diagram, but I might be able to get away with a decent descriptor of where the wires go.

The wiring coming from the pickups will be reds and whites to the center of the respective spin n' split pot, greens and bares going to common ground on the back of the volume pot, and blacks will go to the outer poles of the three way switch.

I'm referring to this diagram for the rest of it.

am I on point for this? Thanks for any help.

    Yeah.

Instead of the wiring to the P/P pot for the splits, run the red and white wires to two pots as in this diagram...

Everything else is as in your diagram.

      ah good. Thanks, man.

Random question, but I've got a lot of solid core. Should I not use it and use stranded? I've got 18, 22, 24awg.

Solid core wire is very difficult to work with...use stranded. 24awg is just fine, bigger will not give you anything more other than excess bulk.

+1. solid core wire is brittle and breaks easily.
