  • Strat SC for a HSH-type Strat

    Hi!

New to the forum, and have done the mandatory search of threads.

So, I'm in the process of building a Warmoth Strat with HSH-setup. I have a couple of DiMarzio D-Activators that I love and plan to use for the HH-part of the guitar. Frankly, I'm not that familiar with Strat-pickups, but recently tried a Strat with great success when recording with my band, and want to incorporate some of that tone into this guitar.

So I recon I want a true SC like in a std Strat, but I need something that doesn't get too "clanky" when played and driven hard. I play mostly post-hardcore, punk and alternative rock. Think Billy Talent and At the Drive-In. Also, I need something that matches with the D-Activators to some extent. The guitar is solid alder, with a rosewood fingerboard (I might use an all-rosewood neck I have lying around, or just go for a std maple/rw-neck) and a solid bridge. Have been looking at the SSL-3, the SSL-5 and the Quarter Pounder, but really don't have much to go on.

All shared wisdom would be greatly appreciated!

    Cheers,
    Andreas
