3 x 4 conductor pickups in an S1 switch equiped strat

Hi Guys,

I have been given a job of putting in some new pickups in a HSS strat with the S1 switch.
The new pickups are 4 conductor humbucking pickups and I would like to use the S1 switch to coil tap them.
Does anyone know where I could find a wiring diagram for this?
I havent opened up the strat yet to see what the existing pickup wiring is like (I am still at work for another few hours)

if the strat u are about to work on already has S1 switching then it is already capable of splitting the humbucker. if u are replacing the current humbucker with a new one, then the wiring depends on the brand of the replacement pickup. just workout a mapping between the fender pickups 4-conductors to the replacement pickup 4-conductors from: http://www.guitarelectronics.com/cat...g_color_codes/ OR http://www.seymourduncan.com/support...ic=color_codes

after you have the mapping sorted out (be very careful), then refer the S1-switching wiring diagram below and do the replacement.

Not to derail this thread, but that diagram shows my disappointment with the S1 switching...in the switch up position, bridge only position should be split. There is no bridge split position in their scheme...in either S1 up or down, it is bridge full humbucker.

That being said, I just have to add that I love my Am Dlx Strat with S1.

Thats a pretty versatile switch. Even if Fender didn't do it right, you can. Here's how the switch works:



But I can't remember which position is up or down. A meter will reveal all.
