While The Boss is known for playing that Tele, I'd argue his reputation was not built on his tone or prowess. I doubt Tele players everywhere are going to rip out their sc pickups because Springsteen did it.

It might just be me, but I feel there's less need to go noiseless with a Tele.

Agree, besides, if the noise is bothering you, it just means that you're not playing loud enough.
