  • Master volume help?

Okay in my home made semi hollow guitar I currently have this http://www.seymourduncan.com/support...vol_1tone_3way however I would like to add a master volume, so I was wondering if anyone out there could be kind enough to instruct me on how to do this, thanks for taking your time to help.

    Re: Master volume help?

I believe it requires: The wire going from the jack to the tone needs to go to the center lug of your master volume. The wire from the switch to the tone needs to go to outside lug of your master volume and the tone needs to tap off the master volume like this: http://www.seymourduncan.com/support...atic=1phat1v1t

But the problem I've experienced with individual volumes plus a master volume is when they are not all dimed you're putting series resistance on the signal and that can make the tone more murky than you were expecting. If you are trying to balance your pickup levels but have a single volume control for the guitar, you might want to look at other ways of getting their levels balanced before hitting the master volume control.
