  • Advice on Pickup for bridge on a Modern Player tele

My bridge p/u is weak, I'm trying to find a good fit that's basic wiring. Pull out the old put in the new without to much creativity. I have a tele that I put a stacked SD hotrail in and it sounds amazing. Any help on a P/U would be great. I know the modern player isn't top of the line but it plays super nice, just want to get a better tone. Thanks for any help

Are you looking for another Bucker or just a more traditional sound? For humbuckers I love the Little 59 (st59-1b). For more vintage stuff I'm not sure. All the wiring is pretty basic. If you can put in a hotrail you can put in any passive pickup for a Tele. Tell us more about the sound you're looking for...

I play cover music, female and male singers. anything from Pat benetar to Rage against the machine. i like a more crunchy tone, not too much distortion. i use an Ibanez tube screamer for a boost. The sound i like is Rick Nielson, neil giraldo. we dont play any death metal or anything like that. the pickup in the bridge position isnt horrible but t doesnt compare to my other tele with he hotrail. if youve seen the modern player they're not a stacked humbucker. i saw somebody used a SH-8 in the bridge and a SSl-7 in the middle. was just wondering if the wiring was simple enough or any other suggestions on an all around pickup. thanks for your response

I'd go with Custom 5 or Phat Cat. Meaty & crunchy tone that you can esily shape to your tastes.

              The C5 sounds good.

I'd look at the '59 Custom Hybrid, Whole Lotta Humbucker, or a Custom 5.

I recently upgraded a Modern Players Tele. I put in 3x Antiquity II's and had to modify a single coil adapter. This guitar plays and sounds outstanding. See photo:
