  • Two different JB pickups?

Hey guys, new to the forum here. I have two visibly different JB pickups (other than one is a trembucker). My standard SH4 looks like any other pickup. My TB4 on the other hand has copper foil shielding both coils and grounded to the base plate. Also the individual coil wires connect to the pickup lead on the bass side and run under the screw coil and finally through the base plate on the treble side. I was going to do a triple ceramic mag upgrade to the TB 4 but can't because of the lead running under the screw coil. Has anyone seen these two differently built JB's before?

Bump....so does anyone know why the TB4 is shielded and the pickup lead runs under the screw coil but the SH4 is not shielded and the pickup lead does not run under the bobbin?

Did you buy the TB new, or was it used when you got it?
