  • Duncan Distortion weirdness

Continuation from the thread on MyLesPaul.com...

Is it normal for a Duncan Distortion to sound like it's going in and out of phase when rocked back and forth? Video shows the rest.

I'm pretty sure I wired it right. Black hot, white/red together, green ground.

If you are absolutely sure you wired it correctly, then there is a broken pup wire because only your slug coil appears active.

Hmm...in series, I can tap on both coils with a screwdriver and they will sound.

Also - when hooked up, the pickup measures 16k in series, 8.4k split.

It sounded like it was in split mode (only one coil on) and then it got louder when you "split it". To me (with out having it in my hands) it appears that you may have wired the push pull backwards.

I thought it was wired backwards, too, but when I "split" it and then tap on the coils, only the slug responds to the tap. The character is also like a loud Strat pickup. The measurements were also taken when wired up.
