  • Trouble installing Metal Livewire, please help

Okay my install paper says one thing, where the site says another. All I've been able to get it to do so far is hiss like crazy. If anyone feels like typing out the details or directing me to an accurate link that worked for them, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks

I'm not sure whats in the "paper", but whats on the website is correct. Are you sure you're grounding the bare wire? I assume you're starting with two new batteries. If not, I'ld do that also.

Give us more details, and we should be able to straighten this out.

OMG...wait till you get it working...your gonna crap!
Are you only using it on one amp? You may be overloading the input, the directions say to add that resistor if you find your overloading your amp. One of my amps does the same, the other is fine.
This pickup is like a distortion pedal....CAHRAZEEEEEEEEE! Good luck.

        Actives don't get grounded

No there are grounds. The problem is I'm using a single tone and single volume with no pickup switch, just bridge position. I wired everything like it says, and theres zero sound, doesnt even work with a tuner. Could someone help me out with the setup I'm trying to do? And also: Which do I use to connect the volume and tone, the yellow box or the small honey comb box? Thanks

Actives most definitely get a ground.

Any active pup must have at least three wires minimum:

            1. Power
            2. Output
            3. Ground

Drinix: I'm sorry, but I'm not familiar with those "boxes". Hopefully, one of the SD tech support folks, or someone who's used one, will chime in.

In the schematic, the .047 conductor thing. All I want to do is have the pickup setup with 1 volume/tone, and no selector, any help?

I was referring to the fact that the ground wire is removed from the equation, meaning, technically, none of the electronics are grounded At least such is the case with EMG pickups.

I have a feeling he's talking about caps.
