      On a linear pot, the distribution of resistance, is proportional to the amount of rotation. Ie., at 50% rotation, you'll be at 50% resistance. Halfway = halfway.

      An audio pot, (also called logarithmic), has a steep "curve" to the resistance. 50% rotation will only be about 10% of the resistance.

      Generally, in a guitar, audio pots are preferable. But some folks like linear.
