  • 250k pot to 100k

    Hello ,
I have a question , I use on all my guitars a Hot Strat Livewire set , 2 single coils and 1 Humbucker .(5 way switch)

I want to install a push-pull pot so I can also select the neck single together with the bridge humbucker , but I only find 250k push-pull pots and the livewire sets uses 100k pots.

Is it possible to change a 250K pot into a 100K pot ?

    Re: 250k pot to 100k

You can do it, but it won't be easy. I just tore apart a push/pull pot not too long ago for a different reason, and it can be done. You would, of course, have to find a 100k pot where the element is the exact same size as the PP.

There's a couple other things you could do that might be easier. Find a resistor thats as close to 166k, and solder it across the outside terminals, will give you 100k. Use another 250k will get you down to 125k. That should work fine, and will be an easier resistor value to find.

btw - Welcome to the forum.

I will install a 166k resistor , thatīs much easyer than toring my new 250k push pull
