  • bad choice of pups?

i just went to the local music place to have them install some new pups for me...and the guy gave me a questioning look, and asked if i was sure i want these pickups put in this guitar...

i have an agile 2800dlx (les paul, swamp ash body), and i was having them put in a jazz neck, and invader bridge.

is there something wierd about those pups in that body?

well why did he say that??

There's nothing "wrong" with any pickups any guitar....some sound better than others though. Maybe he thought the invader would be dark sounding in that guitar but I'm not familiar with that guitar so I don't know.

Well it depends on what you think sounds like ass. What kinds of tones do you like?

He might not now that the jazz neck is paired up with a high output bridge pickup a lot of the time. I've never heard the invader, but that combo should be fine in that guitar. I have a BL L500XL in the bridge of a swamp ash N4 and it isn't too bright for me.

I hate it when people question what u want and give you conflicting thoughts like that espcially in music stores. I wouldnt worry those pickups in swamp ash will sound just fine its just all a matter of taste though by the sounds of what you like i think it will do quite nicely.

Maybe the salesman was on incentive to sell lots of 'these' or 'those' pickups to the customers... with expert opinion
