Re: Charvel model 4 pickups

I have a Custom and Cool Rails in my Model 4 mutt; the middle position is currently empty. I also completely gutted the stock electronics in favor of a single 500K volume pot and 3-way toggle switch.

The Model 4 pickups are already passive, but they have the Jackson JE-1200 midboost circuit.

Cool Rails are a nice option, and I can confirm that Duncan PATB stacks fit perfectly in the 475's single slots (successor to Model 4).

Re: Charvel model 4 pickups

When I took all the active stuff out of my Jackson Fusion USA, the existing single coils still worked. In fact, they actually sounded fatter. Put a 250k volume pot on that bad boy and let it rip.

SO I COULD USE THE J200`S ALREADY IN.....ALSO ARE THE 3 SWITCHES AND ORIGINAL POTS NO GOOD TO USE CHRIS

I have a Charvel CH4. The stock tone control is useable since it's a 250k pot (but stock pots on this model tend to get stuck as they age). The stock volume and mid boost controls can't be used with passive electronics, since they are 50k pots.

If I wanted to get rid of active electronics, knowing the J200's, I'd wire them to 500k pots rather than 250k... YMMV.

EDIT - the 3 original switches are also useable, of course.

Stop ****ing yelling at me.

Yes, you can use the J200's AND the switches, pots will have to go though. I ripped the midboost out of my Model 4 and kept the J200 in the neck (removed the middle), I then wired it 500k Vol - 250K Tone (for S/C) - No load 500k tone for bridge

Re: Charvel model 4 pickups

Of course! I just wired mine recently, I can send you the diagram. Since I havent updated it...

If you look HERE You will see my initial diagram. Only thing I did different was take JaceW's advice and only used one cap, running a wire from the cap to the other tone pot. That diagram does not show all the ground's though, but those are easy enough to figure out, ground everything.
