from the 80's only. What bands/guitarists used the JB predominantly?

I'll start:

- RATT
- Queensryche
- Megadeth

How about Eddie Van Halen? Also Joe Satriani (Surfing With Thw Alien).

George Lynch used one at different times, I know he is known for the Distortion, the Screamin' Demon, and the Distortion "Light" (Dokkenbucker?), but he used a lot of pickups.

Didn't he use a concept JB?

Anyhoo, I gotta try some Badlands tone...

He used the Holdsworth model in the old White Fender turned Charvel. It's basically a JB with 12 allen poles. The purple and blue Charvels had JB's and he uses the JB now.

Re: 80's JB User List

Chris DeGarmo
Michael Wilton
Akira Takasaki (in the 80's anyway. Or a DD)

Re: 80's JB User List

Sammy Hagar
Kirk Hammett (supposedly before switching to Distortion for RTL and later the EMGs)
Scott Ian
Alex Skolnick
Steve Stevens

Re: 80's JB User List

Most of these artists listed above are confirmed users of the classic 80s JB however, i have heard that Chris DeGarmo mostly used 59's. I actually just emailed him from his current band/project website to hopefully get a confirmation on this.

Re: 80's JB User List

I remember an article with Chris and Michael and they said they had some custom Duncan pickups, I think they called them Screaming Eagles or something, don't think it was anything official though.

Re: 80's JB User List

I could've sworn that Guitar For the Practicing Musician had the JB listed. Granted, this was many years ago...lol.

It may have, probably 80% of the guys from the 80s have used a JB at some point. At least the ones that weren't using the Super Distortion anyway.

Re: 80's JB User List

I remember on an SD endorsement flyer DiGarmo and Wilton said 59s. I get my best early Queensryche tone with a Jackson J-50B (similar to a 59 in specs).
