  • Black Winter Vs JB in neck

I’ve got an ESP Eclipse with Suhr Aldrich pickups. The neck pickup is relatively low output, good for the Slash tone but not much else in my opinion so I swapped it for a Black Winter. The BW is great, nice powerful leads that stand out in the mix and a nice split clean tone. I have another guitar with a JB in the bridge and I’m thinking of putting a BW in the neck or another JB. Does anyone know how the two would compare for leads and split clean? Would the JB be too woolly in the lows? I know they put JBs in the neck of the Kiss Epiphone Les Paul’s but I haven’t had a chance to try.
    Thanks

    Welcome to the forum!

I'd pick a BW over the JB in the neck every time. Both sound good split or parallel, however. I just think the neck BW is a great pickup for lots of things, while a JB seems to only work well (to me) with some kind of overdrive.
