  • PRS Pickup Experts: Wire Color Question

I'm sure there is at least one 'expert' out there which knows this. I have picked up an HFS that has a black, white, red, and braided ground wire. I just want to wire it into a standard les-paul like 3-way switch (no split). Is the white the 'hot' and black+shielded the 'ground?' Is so, do I just tape off the red? Or should it be different than this?

    Thanks
    Chris

I think the answer lies here. Looks like black is hot on the bridge pickup.

The Red wire is the "Tap" on PRS pickups (the equivalent of Duncanīs red+white wires soldered together)

Thanks guys. So if I am not doing a coil tap, I would just tape off the red (as I would do if it were the white+red of a SD)? It makes sense but thought I would ask.

        Thanks

          That is correct.
