  • 500k volume pots means thicker sound???

Is it true?? because I tried a Custom (trembucker) in my 500k volume & tone pots in my squire showmaster, and it ROCKS!!! while my JB (SH-4), which is in my fender fat strat 250k vol pot, sounds a bit thin to me,, it do sounds great but not as thick as Custom...
Does the size of the vol pot affect the sound??
    thanks guys...

Basically 500k Pots just make your pickup brighter which could increase the "bite" of your pup.

500k pots won't make your sound thicker. The fact that the custom is a thicker sounding pickup is whats makeing the sound thicker. Jb's have way more treble and way less bass then the custom does. So No, the pots aren't whats makeing the sound difference, in this case Its the fact that you have totally different pickups in totally different guitars. ....Ed
