I like the 81, but I wouldn't put it in basswood.

I've always thought basswood was crap until I learned how many pros are actually using it. Anyway, pickups. I think screamingdaisy is right when he says not to put the EMG 81 in that guitar, because basswood is kinda bright; the 81 would just accent that. The 85, from what I hear is less bright and more mid-focussed.
