  • What's happening in this wiring diagram?

Hey guys, can anyone explain to me what is going on in this wiring diagram:

Hand-crafted electric guitar pickups, acoustic guitar pickups, bass pickups and pedals. Helping musicians find their signature sound since 1976.

My guitar has 1 volume, 1 tone, and a 3 way switch. I have two DPDT push/pull pots, and two 4-conductor Duncan humbuckers. I was thinking of wiring up some type of coil split or series wiring trick using the DPDT pots. I came across this schematic, but I'm really not sure what's going on here. I'd really appreciate it if someone could explain it to me. Thanks.

When the switch is down, you have:

    Parallel operation:
    black/red connected to hot out
    green/white connected to ground

Switch to middle (on-on-on only - ignore this position for DPDT operation)
    single-coil operation:
    black connected to hot
    green/white/red connected to ground

    Switch to top:
    Ordinary humbucker operation:
    black connected to hot
    green connected to ground
    red/white connected together

I hadn't really noticed it before, but to me, thats backwards. I believe I'ld
want "normal" operation with the push/pull pot "in". But easy to do - just reverse the wires on the switch.
