  • Duncan Custom vs. Duncan Distortion

    pros, cons, anything? i have a dd and think it has a great eq but it lacks a good clean tone. it's too gritty.

    -MXR M-134 Stereo Chorus
    -Boss NS-2 Noise Suppressor

    Amps:
    -Mesa/Boogie Triple Rectifier head (6L6's)
    -Mesa/Boogie Rectifier 4x12 slant cab

    Strings: Ernie Ball Slinkys
    -10-52 (Les Paul, SG, and Iceman)
    -12-56 (Scorpion)

    Cables: Monster Cables

    To me the Custom has better cleans. For distortion it isn't as huge sounding as the Distortion. It also has less mids. I think it's more dynamic though. It's still aggressive, just not as "big" as the Distortion.

        I've got a hybrid Cust/dist. with the Dist. magnet, it makes the cleans useable, but it still get a little grit if you really dig in.

          Stick an A5 mag in it. From what I have been told that makes it a JB. JB's have a great clean sound and a nice dirty sound too
