Re: 500pots with SD's
The JB is only bright through certain amps. Through both my JCM 800 and my Mesa rack the JB in a Strat with 500k pots is perfect.
Definately 500k with the DD.

Re: 500pots with SD's
Try 500-kohm potentiometers. If you don't like the sound, then use a 500-kohm loading resistor to effectively lower the resistance of the 500-kohm potentiometer to 250 kohm. Then if you find you prefer the sound with 250-kohm potentiometers, buy and install genuine 250-kohm potentiometers later on.

which pots would be better recommended for a duncan distortion
(bridge model).

Re: 500pots with SD's
I have 500k pots and IMHO it does sound great. I get the full tone I am looking for and if its too bright I just kick of the mid and treb. I just install my SD's and I am loving the tone. Just my 2 cents.

Re: 500pots with SD's
I don't recommend use of 500k pots with the JB- its tone was too bright in my opinion, not round enough. I'm in the process of switching out my 500k for 250k pots.

500k pots are fantastic. They bring out more punch and defenition to your tone. Really a must IMO.

Re: 500pots with SD's
500k pots are recommended for use with most humbuckers. I even run 500k pots with the lil59s and the Hot Stacks.
