  • Dimarzio HSS wiring help?

Hi guys, I'm trying to wire up my HSS strat with a Tone Zone S in the bridge. My question is, which wires are for the split, and which are hot and ground? Right now, I have the red as hot going to the 5 way, black and white together going to the 5 way for the split, and bare and green going to ground. I'm not sure if this is correct for the polarity in the 2nd position. I'm seeing several diagrams. Some have the black as hot, some have red as hot, some have green as hot.

The answer depends on which single coils you have in neck and middle. So there are two answers:

    1) If you have Seymour Duncan single coils in neck and middle.
    ToneZone.Red - Hot to switch.
ToneZone.Black - Centre tap for coil splitting.
ToneZone.White - Centre tap for coil splitting.
    ToneZone.Green - Grounded
    ToneZone.Bare - Grounded

    2) If you have Fender single coils in neck and middle.
    ToneZone.Black - Hot to switch.
ToneZone.Red - Centre tap for coil splitting.
ToneZone.Green - Centre tap for coil splitting.
    ToneZone.White - Grounded
    ToneZone.Bare - Grounded

A lot of single coils including Dimarzio ones have the same polarity as Fender, so in that case you need to switch your wiring to option 2.

Thanks. Sorry, I should have stated that I have single coils from a MIM Fender. So it sounds like I have to change the wiring of the Tone Zone S.
