  • Need Help Wiring 2 HB's w/ Double Coil Split on Single Switch

    OK, the rundown:
    2 DiMarzio Humbuckers.
Using a 3-way (Fender) pickup selector slide switch (like a Tele)
I want to wire them both to a single switch to cut coils (switch on volume pot).
I want both inside coils active when I hit the switch.
    And HB'ing when both used.
I 'think' I have to do one of them as what's called 'inside out' wiring or I'll wind up with 2 north or 2 south coils.

    Questions:
Is it a confirm to wiring one of them inside out?
Which one, so I get inside/inside and not outside/outside?
Imagining I'm installing both of them with exit wire toward controls.
Or do I just need to flip one of them around instead of doing an inside out thing?
    Does it matter which one?

This is the page I'm getting my wiring info from:

    Thanks a mil people.

I don't know about dimarzio, but Duncan certainly has their splits to slug coils. If you consult the Dimarzio colour codes and find the slug coil wire is the nominal 'hot' wire then it does too. I guess if they're a visually symmetrical dimarzio then you could simply rotate the coil in the humbucker ring to make whichever position work for you.

For 2 slug coils to be hum cancelling you'll have to make one of them RW/RP. Which involves I think both a mag flip plus wiring up each of the 2 coils with wires flipped as well.
