  • Direct Mounting Pickups

Sure, there are several ways to do this, including ordering a whole bunch of screws to see what works, putting inserts into the body... and I've seen this done before with a normal pickup base plate, but it doesn't work well with thinner guitars or guitars that you have to do extra routing to fit the legs of the base.

The solution is to use a flat pickup baseplate. This has worked with Seymour Duncan and Bare Knuckle Pickup mounting/height adjustment screws so far.. You just have to drill a little bit into the wood under where the pick-up screw passes through the baseplate, shave/sand off some of the threads of the mounting screw near the head to allow the screw to spin freely, and maybe shorten the screw if need be.

    Just sharing another, updated way.

I did find small enough screws, but it was a pain. How do you shave off some of the threads of the pickup screws?
