  • Duncan Invader Neck mod: A4, slugs, and screws

This guitar always has a boomy neck position tone.
I took an SH8N (Jazz neck wind with built in bass cut capacitor), took out all the ceramic magnets, added an Alnico IV bar magnet (with plastic spacers underneath), Dimarzio’s big hex screws and gold slugs.
This pickup is near perfect in this guitar. It’s got the lower output, clear tone of the Jazz, but with no mud in the bass and any harsh presence is shaved off.

I dig experiments like this. What else have y'all come up with?

I tried a row of A5 rods and a row of A2 rods in a Stag Mag bridge. That was great, especially in parallel.
I’ve also done A3 on wound strings and A4 on plain strings in an HB108 Neck (Duncan designed Invader neck that uses the Jazz neck wind). That was like an ideal neck pickup: very balanced.

That is awesome. As much as I love my tb-8 invader bridges I'd have to say the neck model invader never quite did it for me.
