  • Bobbin hole too big

Got a new Vintage Stack for Tele. One of the mounting holes in the bobbin must be slightly too big because neither of the included screws will bite. I was able to mount it still by wrapping the screw in masking tape. Is this a long-term solution? Should I try to get a slightly larger screw?

^ Happens all the time I'm afraid.

I use regular pickup screws, or, IIRC #4or #6 straight screws (not sheet metal or wood screws, more like "bolts") from Ace or Home Depot etc. They cut their own threads if you screw them through gently.

I'd be thrilled to go to Home Depot and get another screw! You mention #4 or #6. Are these the only identifying numbers to look for (besides the length of course)

Yup! I just went to Ace Hardware this week to do this. Take the pickup with you and try out different screws. I would suggest Ace if you have one nearby. HD has the screws in packages. Ace Hardware still has bins where you can try the screws out before purchasing them.

Perfect. If the masking tape holds I'll do this at the next string change. Thanks!
