  • Invader vs Duncan Distrotion vs Dimebucker

My Jackson Rhoads RR24Q comes with a pair of Duncan Distortion; while I like the neck sound, I'd like to have more "hair" and "roughness" in the bridge position. Will replacing the Duncan Distortion with Invader or Dimebucker helps in this case?

    Thanks

The Invader and Dimebucker are really different pickups. The Invader has a lot of mids, while the Dimebucker has a ton of high end...which one does your guitar need?

A Distortion with more hair is a Black Winter?

Nazgul in this case is the proverbial ticket!

My first vote is for the Distortion and my second vote, assuming the bridge is as good as the neck, then the Black Winter. I have the neck BW and love it, have it paired with a Distortion. Tried the Nazgul and found it very nasally in the guitar they were in, Im just meh on the Invader.

From what I recall of the Dimebucker in a buddies Dean, it's a bright clear Loud pickup. Very easy to get pinch harmonics. Anywhere on the fretboard.

What they said...Dimebucker = very bright, very loud.

The Invader has very little high end, very strong mids and bass. Too much so for my taste. If you like the Distortion neck (very bright), you will absolutely hate the Invader.

Dimebucker, Distortion, or Black Winter is what you want for the bridge.
