Anyone else like an Alnico 4 magnet in a Pearly Gates for a Strat bridge?
I've had a PG in a strat copy for a few years now and while I always liked it there did always seem to be something missing.
I tried it with a few different magnets with no joy and the last option I had available was to try it with an A4. I didn't think it would do what I needed, but so far I'm quite happy with it and reckon it will be staying there.
The PG has more treble than I would typically go for and the mids seem to be more upper mids and I suspect what I am after is more of the lower mids.
Recently I notice that I seem to be gravitating towards A4 pickups in general for humbuckers at any rate.
