This may well be irrelevant as it does not address the parallel.split question. I am posting by way of completeness so you have another option to consider.
I have wired several 2 pot /push pull guitars with a series/OOP option (which also an doubles as a coil cut which you seem quite keen on) with the other PP splitting both HBs..
Combined Series OOP is a very usable sound.

FWIW the most popular 2 PP wiring I have done over the years is series parallel on the bridge with both HBs cut by the other pot. .I usually wire so the bridge only cuts in the series position which gives a bridge in parallel with a cut neck option.
Many hottish Bridge pups like the JB can give quite a P A F ish sound when in parallel.
