    Does anyone know when coil shielding was introduced?
    Do the old pafs has a shielding coils?

    im not sure what you mean. are you referring to the copper tape that is sometimes wrapped around a coil? if so, paf's did not have that.

      The PAF cover + baseplate probably does a great job of being a faraday cage........but no coil tape.

      I think I've only ever seen it on high output humbuckers in the Duncan lineup. Thats the sort of application where you'd need all the extra noise suppression you can get, and where they'd almost never come with a cover.

          duncan does it on, i believe, all trembuckers and some other high output pups. not sure when they started. they dont do it on paf type pups.
