ssl-2 or aps-2 for strat?

  • ssl-2 or aps-2 for strat?

    i have a 1991 strat plus (mia) with maple board and alder body would the ssl-2 or the aps-2 pickups give me a better sound? i like pink floyd, led zeppelin, hendrix, cream, dire straits, rhcp, srv etc?

    Just think of the APS2s as a vintage sounding strat single coil pickup but with flat poles and a warmer tone with less highend chime and less snap to the notes compared to the SSL1 or SSL2s.....The APS2 s use A2 poles(Warmer)and the SSL1 and SSL2s use A5(Bright and snappy)...The SSL2s are flat poled and the SSL1s are vintage staggered...Vintage correct as far as these pickups in my opinion would be the SSL1 Vintage Staggered pickups...If you feel your guitar is extremely bright,go with the APS pickups....If your guitar is dark or warm in it's character,go with the SSL series...
