I have a new American Deluxe FMT HH Tele that I loaded with a set of Pearly Gates p/ups. Well, the PG in the neck totally cleared up what was some muddiness from the stock p/up. However, the bridge p/up seems too mid-range heavy (twangy). I play a range of classic pop/rock from the 60's to 90's and need something with a little more meat but moderate output in the bridge (less mid-range dominance, a bit rounder in tone). Would a '59 do the trick in the bridge?

Re: Pearly Gates in a HH Tele?
Yes and No. Would have less mids, and uppermids. BUT 59 could even be edgier than the PG.
Are your pots 500K? If not, what you'd get from installing 500K's is a brighter and higher output. If you do not use your tone on the guitar, learn how to, because with 500K pots and an orange drop cap, PG does deliver. Warren Hayes gets that round bridge tone from a PG, on a LP (talk to Lee_M for the specifics) (and a LP should be brighter than your tele, because on the LP the bridge pickup is closer to the bridge).

Re: Pearly Gates in a HH Tele?
I have a 59b/PGn combo in a "Telegib" and I'm really satisfied.
Truth that the PG in the bridge was too "mid range" oriented so I put a '59 in the brigde. It has more bass, slightly dirty tone but well defined and combines well with the PGn.
I have a 4 conductor '59b that gives great splitting possibilties .Pickups used :
Les Paul: A2'59/'PGn ; SP90-1/SP90-1
PRS Santana 1: Phat Cats
PRS CU22 : SLb/'59n ; A2'59b/PGn ; Phat Cats

PRS Singlecut : Ant/Ant ; SLb/59n
PRS Modern Eagle : SLb/Antn
PRS Hollow : Ant/Ant
PRS Mc Soap : SP90-1/SP90-3 ;SP90-1/SP90-1/SP90-3

Re: Pearly Gates in a HH Tele?
thats the pickup setup in the hh blackout, from what i understand, because one is a reverse polarity, when you play thru both at the same time its like a quacky sound, but individually, yeah i'd say thats a good setup, judging by the sound clips on hereOriginally posted by gibson175metal zones are for pussies.
