Hopefully you have seen my resurrection thread on this instrument and you know the story behind this guitar.
Its a 1951 Gibson L4C with 2 P90s, 2 volumes and 2 tones and a 3 wat toggle.
I bought this guitar a couple months ago. It arrived with some undisclosed damage, the seller left me high and dry, so I moved forward and repaired it myself. There were 2 areas that required the most attention....
1. There was a headstock crack that I had to glue and clamp.
2. There was an input jack rip out on the bottom rim that needed to be repaired (underneath the black plate) All repairs are thoroughly documented in the thread. All repairs are solid...I have had 11s on it and have been playing it...it holds tune perfectly.
Now, on to the guitar and its parts...
The pots date to 1951.
Whats original to the guitar (to the best of my knowledge)…….
Finish
Wood
Pickups
Pots
Toggle
Bridge (original rosewood saddle included)
Pickguard
Whats not original....
Tuners
Knobs
Tailpiece
Frets
Strap buttons
Case????
Tune o matic
Truss rod cover (original included)
This guitar plays great now after the re fret! The neck is a full 50s carve .895 at first fret. The truss rod works perfectly. The pots function perfectly as well as the toggle. It has a huge, warm and fat tone! Sounds like nothing I have ever played.
There are multiple imperfections...its 69 years old. I tried to show the worst of them in the pics.
Feel free to ask questions....I'm sure there will be many.
$1800 net to me.....pay pal is ok, buyer responsible for all shipping and fees. Local pickup is fine too. I would much rather do the transaction on Reverb, that will be the only way I will ship this vintage instrument, because of their shipping protection, which protects the buyer and seller. Contact me and we will work out the details.
Thanks for looking!
